SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University softball picked up 5-2 and 11-0 wins over Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon with two Valkyries hitting their first collegiate home runs in each game. The pair of wins moves Converse to 7-9 overall while Wesleyan College falls to 1-9 overall.
Game 1 Notes:
- Bottom 1 - AJ Albano singled to center field and then advanced to third as Grace McKinney reached on an error. Serrah Ballard then reached on an error which allowed Albano to score.
- Top 3 – One run was put on the board for the Wolves to tie the game up.
- Top 4 – Tihana Zupanic scored for Wesleyan College, giving them a 2-1 lead over the Valkyries.
- Bottom 4 – Makenna Hill tied the game up as she scored a single run.
- Bottom 5 – Ayellad Howard walked, then stole second and scored for the Valkyries, taking the lead back, as Albano hit a triple.
- Bottom 6 – Kayla Rocha hit her first collegiate home run with Madeline Modica on base to secure the 5-2 win for Converse.
Albano and Rocha each had two hits with Albano, Ballard and Modica all having one RBI while Rocha had two. Ballard pitched 3.2 innings with five strikeouts while
Rylee Summers pitched 3.1 innings with one strikeout.
Game 2 Notes:
- Bottom 1 – Faith Hauser walked and was brought home as Karleigh Crabill hit her first collegiate home run. Albano then singled to left field and advanced to second as Ballard reached first on an error. Modica then doubled which allowed Albano to score. Summers then singled which brought both Modica and Ballard home to make it 5-0 in Converse's favor. Katelynn Tuxbury followed by doubling which moved Summers to third and scoring as Ryan Finazzo flew out. In her second at-bat of the inning, Hauser singled which sent Tuxbury home. Crabill ended the inning with a triple to left field, pushing Hauser home to make it 8-0 the Valkyries way.
- Bottom 2 – Modica scored as Tuxbury singled to left field.
- Bottom 3 – Crabill got on base by doubling to left field. She scored as Hailie Amrhein reached on a fielder's choice which moved Albano to third. Albano then scored the 11th and final run of the game as Modica doubled.
Crabill and Modica each had three hits with Crabill having three RBIs and Modica having two. Hill led in stolen bases with two. Summers picked up the win in the circle, pitching five innings with four strikeouts.

Converse will travel to Claflin on Wednesday for a pair of doubleheaders at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
