Converse Acrobatics and Tumbling Falters at Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Converse University acrobatics and tumbling team dropped their first road meet of the season to Limestone University on Friday night. The 266.060-247.405 loss drops Converse to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in Conference Carolinas action while Limestone moves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Conference Carolinas standings.
 
Event 1 – Compulsory
Converse scored a 9.7/10 in the compulsory pyramid heat which was comparable to Limestone's 9.9 in the same heat. An 8.950 and 8.5 in the acro and tumbling heats would hurt the Valkyries as the Saints posted scores of 9.55 and 8.65. At the end of event one, Converse trailed 38.000-36.600.
 
Event 2 – Acro
The Valkyries struggled in the acro event with their highest score being a 7.2/10 in the 5-element acro heat. Low scores for Converse only allowed them to accumulate 21.4/29.7 points while Limestone posted a 28.250/30 in the event.
 
Event 3 – Pyramid
Converse bounced back in the third event, outscoring Limestone in the synchronized pyramid heat with a score of 9.45/10 compared to the Saints 9.4/10. Going into halftime, Limestone held a 95.20-85.40 lead over Converse.
 
Event 4 – Toss
The Valkyries had a highlight score of 9.150/9.9 in the 450 Salto toss heat while the Saints had a 9.3/9.9 in the same event.
 
Event 5 – Tumbling
The trio pass for Converse outscored the Saints big time. The Valkyries posted an 8.3/9.1 compared to the Saints 7.95/9.1. Going into the final event of the night, Converse had 163.725 points while Limestone had 175.85 points.
 
Event 6 – Team
With a start value of 100.430, Converse posted an 83.680 in the event to end the night with an overall score of 247.405. Limestone had a start value of 104.010 and was able to score a 90.210 to have an overall score of 266.060 at the end of the meet.
 
Next Up:
The Valkyries will be back in action on March 18 as they travel to Murfreesboro, N.C. for a tri meet against Chowan and Lander.
