COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Converse University softball team is coming back home with two losses after being defeated 12-2 against Tuskegee and 12-0 against Columbus State. The Valkyries moved to 5-3 overall while the Golden Tigers and the Cougars both moved to 1-0 overall.
Game 1 Final: Tuskegee 12-2 Converse (5 Inn.)
Game 2 Final: Columbus State 12-0 Converse (5 Inn.)
Records: Converse (5-3), Tuskegee (1-0), Columbus State (1-0)
Game 1 Notes:
- Top 1/2 – Tuskegee put eight runs on the board to open up the game.
- Bottom 2 – Chesney Miles walked and then stole second and third base before scoring as Faith Hauser singled up the middle.
- Top 3/4 – Tuskegee was able to add two more runs to their score to make it a 10-1 game.
- Top 5 – Back-to-back runs were scored by the Golden Tigers to make it 12-1 in their favor.
- Bottom 5 – Victoria Dichio started by walking and then was able to steal second and third. She scored as Kayla Rocha was thrown out, ending the game with a 12-2 loss in the fifth inning.
Game 2 Notes:
- Top 1/2/3 – Columbus State scored five runs in both the first and second innings while putting up two runs in the third inning to walk away with a 12-0 win in the fifth inning.
Miles and Dichio each contributed a run versus Tuskegee while Hauser had an RBI and
Rylee Summers led in the circle, pitching 3.2 innings while
Serrah Ballard pitched 2.0 innings against Columbus State followed by Dichio who pitched 1.2 innings.
Next Up:
Converse will host Coker University at Tyger River Stadium on Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader series. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
