The Series
This will be the first time that Converse and Montreat have gone up against each other in program history. The Cavaliers will face the Valkyries in their second game of the season while this will be the season opener for the Converse men.
Converse Notes:
- This is the first game of the 2022 season for the Valkyries.
- The men finished 8-9-2 overall last season and 4-6-1 in Conference Carolinas action and made it to the Conference Carolinas Tournament in their first season as a program.
- Conference Carolinas announced Jaxon Keene, David Windmiller and Gero Wolters as their preseason players to watch, predicting that the Valkyries would finish eighth this year.
- Windmiller returns as the starting keeper, playing and starting in all 19 games last season and recording 74 saves while sophomore forward Hayden Gensler returns to the pitch as the leading goal scorer.
- Keene recorded five goals, four assists and had 14 points last season while Wolters had six goals, one assist and 13 points as a defender.
Montreat Notes:
- Montreat enters this game on a losing streak, dropping their first competition of the season to the University of Pikeville on Thursday evening by a score of 1-0.
- The Cavaliers were predicted to finish seventh in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
- Montreat took 15 shots against Pikeville with Ricardo Madan taking a team high four shots.
- Freshman goalkeeper Marius Braedstrup-Ho started in goal and played all 90 minutes while making four saves in his collegiate debut.
