BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – Converse University men's soccer team was crowned the 2022 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Champions after defeating Francis Marion 1-0 to capture the program's first ever championship title.
 
The game was evenly matched as Francis Marion would attempt 12 shots while Converse attempted 14 shots. The Valkyries game winning goal was scored by Tobias Bruecher in the 78^th minute to secure Converse's victory.
 
David Windmiller had five saves on the night for Converse, ending his Conference Carolinas tournament stint with two shutouts. Windmiller was named Conference Carolinas Tournament MVP at the conclusion of the match. Joining Windmiller on the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team were defenders Felix Frenz, Jayson Frink and Ricky Cardozo along with midfielder Bruecher. 
 
Hayden Gensler led the Valkyries with three shots on goal followed by Johannes Haden, Jaxon Keene and Sinan Kilincarslan who each attempted two shots. Bruecher's one and only shot of the night was a goal, assisted by Kilincarslan.
