Converse ESPORTS Has Successful First Semester

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University ESPORTS Team had a very successful inaugural fall season.
 
The Converse League of Legends team was ranked inside the top-16 nationally and traveled over 1500 miles to compete at the Illinois State Invitational. The ten student-athletes finished ninth overall at the Illinois State University Sixty Six Games Invitational. A trio of student-athletes became qualified to play with Zenigma, an amateur organization for League of Legends. In addition, the League of Legends team had another player join Meme City Esports, an Amateur team that qualified for Proving Grounds which is a top-32 team out of all the amateur and collegiate teams. Finally, the League of Legends team competed in the Tier 3 Tournament. The tournament is a combination of 16 amateur and collegiate teams that compete in an open ranked tournament event. The Converse League of Legends team placed eighth overall at the Unified Premier League.
 
The Converse Rocket League team placed first in the Mainstage Collegiate Esports Association (MCEA). The association is made up primarily of schools from around both North and South Carolina. At the Columbia College (S.C.) Invitational the Valkyries recorded a top-4 finish in the tournament. The Valkyries placed inside the top-6 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) and posted a 5-4 score in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE). The Rocket League Team also participated in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Playoffs this fall.
 
The Converse Valorant team posted a third-place finish in the MCEA and won the Unified Premier League, Tier 3 Tournament this past fall.
 
The Converse Apex Legends team became the only Collegiate school in the country to qualify for the G-Loot League Finals (GLL). The Valkyries competed against collegiate, amateur and professional team for the $5,000 prize pool. The Apex Legends squad posted a runner-up finish in the Apex Legends Global Series Qualifiers (ALGS). The ALGS is a competitive ecosystem for PC, Xbox and PlayStation Apex Legends players featuring a $5 million total prize pool, culminating in the ALGS Championship.
 
The Converse Overwatch team became the first ESPORTS team to claim a Conference Championship this past fall when they won the Peach Belt Tournament. The Overwatch team went on to finish inside the top-six in both the NECC and the National Association of Collegiate Esports Starleague. The Overwatch team was also top-16 in the Overwatch Homecoming Collegiate, a national competition that will see the top-32 teams advance to the group stage.
 
The Converse Rainbow 6 Siege team were crowned National Champions of the Collegiate Rainbow 6 Siege Season 7 Stage One competition. This event features over 280 universities from around the country, over 2,000 student-athletes and over $30,000 in prizes. This is the primary Collegiate competition in Rainbow 6 Siege and it is hosted by Facelt and sponsored by Ubisoft Collegiate Esports. The Rainbow 6 Siege team also placed inside the top-four in the Rainbow 6 Siege Collegiate Preseason Tournament.
