The Series
Converse University and Lees-McRae College are meeting for the 19
th time since the 2003 soccer season. The Bobcats hold a 16-2 advantage in the all-time series and have won the past five games against the Valkyries dating back to the 2016 season. The last time Converse defeated Lees-McRae was on October 24, 2015 when the Valkyries walked away with a 1-0 win over the Bobcats. Since 2014 every match in the series has been decided by one goal with the last two contests ending in a 1-0 loss for the Valkyries.
Converse Notes:
- The Valkyries are 1-3-2 on the season and 1-0-0 in Conference Carolinas action.
- 2014 was the last time the Valkyries started off the Conference portion of the schedule 1-0. That season Converse went on to win the Regular Season Championship and finished with an overall recorded of 15-3-1 and 9-1-1 in conference play.
- Saturday's win against Chowan ended a four-game losing streak to the Hawks and was the first multi-goal outing for the Valkyries all season.
- Sophie Wang and Rowan Deubel each scored a goal in the win for the Valkyries. Ellie Gore and Olivia Brooks each picked up an assist in the win.
- Freshman goalkeeper Daelynn Perry has been instrumental in the Valkyries recent success, the Sunshine State native has recorded five saves over the past two games.
- As a team the Valkyries are averaging a goal game and they are taking just under seven shots per contest.
- Kaitlin Dansie and Ellie Gore are now tied for the team lead in points (3) and Dansie is tied for the team lead in total shots with six.
Lees-McRae Notes:
- Lees-McRae is 3-2 overall and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas action this season.
- The Bobcats started the season with a five-game homestand, tomorrow's match will be their first road game of the season.
- Lees-McRae is coming off a 3-1 loss to UNC Pembroke on Saturday afternoon at Tate Field.
- In the 77th minute of the game Dahlia Bell connected with Haley Lowman for the lone goal on Saturday.
- Mallory Roughton made nine saves in 90 minutes of action against UNC Pembroke.
- The Bobcats are averaging one goal per game and they are taking around 13.5 shots per contest.
- Lowman currently leads the team in goals scored (2), points (4) and game-winning goals (1).
