Soccer Falls on the Road to the Trojans; Ending Postseason Hopes

| Box Score 2 Mount Olive, NC- The Valkyries Women's Soccer team traveled to Mount Olive on Sunday to face the Trojans in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The format for this years tournament is three different groupings that play in a round robin format. Converse is included in the group with Emmanuel and Mount Olive for a chance to advance past the pool play stage.

Converse was under an all out attack from Mount Olive from the very beginning of the game as they held high pressure and really tested the Valkyrie defense which had been strong all year. Jaelyn Brown would get the scoring started for the Trojans as she took a pass from Sara Berglund and beat Darian Bankston for the goal. Berglund would once again be involved in the attack as she found Jasmine Pinter for the Trojans second goal just 9 minutes later. Converse would enter the halftime break facing a 2-0 deficit. Converse would get shots on goal in the second half from Izzy Fangman and Shelby McCutcheon but neither were able to beat the Trojans keeper. Berglund would cap off her stellar day with a goal of her own in the 78th minute off an assist from running mate, Jaelyn Brown. This would officially end the come back hopes for Converse as they would fall, 3-0.

Up Next: Due to the loss, Converse has been eliminated from the possibility of advancing due to goal differential and seeding. They will travel to Emmanuel College on Wednesday to play the second leg of the Round Robin format.
