Box Score Spartanburg, SC- Battle tested and defending home field were once again on display today as the Valkyries triumphed for a 3-2 win over a pesky Salem University squad.
Shelby McCutchen got the scoring started for the Valkyries with a penalty kick which she converted into the side netting to give the Valkyries a 1-0 lead. Izzy Fangman joined the scoring by converting a penalty kick of her own to push the lead to 2-0. Salem would stick around and score 2 goals of their own to push the game into the extra period.
Shaylah Youngdale would win the game for the Valkyries not long into the extra period as she was able to beat the Salem keeper to secure the win. This is 3rd win in 4 games for the Valkyries as momentum is peaking at a good time heading into the conference tournament.
