Banner Elk, NC- Converse had a tale of two games today as they were able to salvage a split with the Bobcats of Lees Mcrae. Converse recovered from a 5 inning run rule loss in game 1 to battle and take a dominant game 2.
Game 1 Recap: Charlsy Taylor took the mound for the Bobcats and brought her best stuff with her. Blanking the Valkyries across 4 innings pitched while allowing 2 hits and 3 base runners total. The Bobcats would use an 8 run first inning to bury the Valkyries in game 1.
Game 2 Recap: Resilience was on display for this Valkyries team as they once again fell behind in the first inning. However they regained their traction and built momentum with a 3 run third inning.
Julianne Outlaw got the scoring started with a RBI single while
Allison Plafcan and Brooklyn Mcelrath followed with RBI's of their own to take the lead 3-2 into the fourth inning. The Valkyries would tack on two more runs in the 4th and two in the fifth to push their lead to 7-2 heading into the final innings.
Reagan Owens shut the door on the Bobcats as she struck out 5 and stranded 6 runners across the complete game win. Mckinney, Coyle and Plafcan led Converse with 2 RBI's apiece.
On Deck: The Valkyries will return home for a quick turnaround as they host King tomorrow. The first game of the DH will begin at 1:00 PM.
