SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University Esports Overwatch team will compete in the 2021 Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming Playoffs this weekend.
The Valkyries are slated 14
th overall in the bracket and will face Harrisburg University in the opening round on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Round two of the tournament will take place at 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening, with the semi-finals and Grand Finals taking place on Saturday night.
The 16-team single elimination tournament will determine who will be crowned the national champion in Overwatch this weekend. Nearly $28,000 is up for grabs this weekend as the winning team will take home $12,000 and the runner-up will take home $6,000.

About Converse Overwatch: The team has 6 members from around the country that play at the highest level of Collegiate. Placing within the top 100 players in the US and they're bound to win in style.
Adam "Garchomp" El Gammal, fierce mechanics that are reliable in any situation. Garchomp is the "Off Tank" on the team. He improvises plays in the heat of battle while dealing heavy damage to the opposing team. His mentality is strong and focus is unheard of.
Chance "Chance" Spicuzza, the least experienced team member, but a foundational teammate for the team's success. He's the "Main Support" on the team and literally bandaids all the mistakes and damage the team takes. His spirit is unmatched and his love for the game fuels his drive to keep this team on top.
Caleb "Hammer" Chang, confidence is key when you're the "Main Tank" on the team. Hammer leads the team into battle as the front line in their intense 6v6 fights. He's a leader and the voice on the team that they need to make waves in the Collegiate scene.
Steven "Maxwell" Galatic, his aim is insane and the mechanics top of the line, as any "DPS" player should be. No one would be surprised if Maxwell is picked up by a professional team in the near future. His success at Converse will help him bridge the gap and he'll show everyone what he's about. Maxwell has been in the scene for 5 years and leads the team in their professional development. No matter the disagreement he's able to keep everyone on topic and make a solution. Maxwell has played at the Contenders level and against some of the top teams in Overwatch. Keep an eye out, because he's going to put on a show!
William "StillKiwi" Enrique Lopez, a smart player that keeps the mood light. His gameplay and mechanics are from another world. StillKiwi is the "Flex Support" on the team, helping patch up our team in the midst of battle. His personality is contagious and is a key component to our success. Even after the matches you still want to be around him and that's what a real teammate is all about!
Trevor "Qwickzzz" Groshell, coming from Winthrop he's joined a team that is making impact in the Collegiate Overwatch scene. Currently the "DPS" helping Maxwell put damage into the other team. In addition Qwickzzz is the manager on the team that helps them keep a slick schedule so they have time to balance all their lives. His past experience in Collegiate and management skills are key for our success.
