HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
The first period was all about the defense as each team jostled for position. North Greenville was able to establish an offensive attack midway through the half, but was not able to break the scoreless tie as the Valkyries did a great job keeping the Crusaders out of the back of the net.
However, just as it appeared the game would go to halftime with no score, North Greenville's Ayden Boatwright posted the first score with an unassisted goal in the 41st minute of action.
Second Half
That lead doubled in the 54th minute as Boatwright tallied her second score of the contest. The Valkyries struggled to get anything going offensively until Kayla Noon put a shot on goal that was hauled in by the Crusaders keeper, holding the Vals off the board.
That would be the last opportunity Converse would see as it dropped the 2-0 decision to North Greenville.
Up Next
Converse will return to action on Thursday, October 10 as it hosts Chowan in a Conference Carolinas tilt. That contest is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Hayden Abney Fulp Field.
