INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Newberry jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead just minutes into the first half. The Wolves' Daphne Heyaime scored off of a rebound that hit off the crossbar in the 4th minute before Vanessa Baird doubled the lead at the 7:35 mark, taking an assist by Heyaime.
A.C. Albritton looked to cut into the lead in the 25th minute but her shot sailed just wide, leaving the Vals scoreless with 20 minutes left in the half. That missed opportunity proved costly for Converse as Newberry was able to add a third goal late in the half to go into the locker room leading 3-0.
Second Half
The Wolves looked to pad its lead in the second half, but Bankston was a wall between the pipes, denying Newberry of adding to the advantage. However, Converse could not establish any offensive consistency in the half as they were denied any shots over the final 45 minutes of play.
Newberry was able to tack on a goal in the 87th minute to push the score out to the 4-0 final.
