FRANKLIN, SPRINGS, Ga. – The Converse College (1-7, 0-5) soccer team was dealt a 4-1 loss at the hands of Emmanuel on Saturday afternoon at the Stephens Athletic Complex. The Golden Lions used four first half goals to post the Conference Carolinas win.

EC's Hannah Logue wasted no time breaking the scoreless tie, connecting on an unassisted goal with just 6:36 gone off the first period clock. However, Converse struck for its first goal twenty ticks later when Anna Claire Albritton found Heaven Robinson, who got her right boot on the ball and blasted it past the keeper for her first score of the season.

After more than 12 minutes of uneventful action Emmanuel regained the lead with three unanswered goals, including two more from Logue and one from Lindsay Lee sandwiched in the middle.

Converse had opportunities to trim the deficit heading to the locker room but were unable to put anything in goal and Emmanuel took a 4-1 lead to the break.

The second half was an offensive stalemate as neither team could make anything happen on the positive side of the field, allowing Emmanuel to walk away with the 4-1 win.

Emmanuel held a 24-17 advantage on shots and 2-1 on corner kicks. Of the Valkyries 17 shots, six were on goal. Claudia Coffin led the way for the Purple and Gold with six shots, while Hallie Lycans and Melissa Carlyle added three shots each. Darian Bankston went the distance in goal for Converse, allowing four scores while collecting nine saves.

Converse will be back in action on Tuesday, October 2, stepping out of conference and traveling to Pembroke, N.C. to take on UNC Pembroke. First kick is scheduled for 5 p.m.
