Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Converse soccer team dominated the play in a 1-0 win over the visiting Hawks of Chowan in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half:
- Converse posted 14 corner kicks and 21 shots in the first half of play, while holding Chowan to one corner and three shots.
- Cassidy Marshall was able to find the back of the net in the 43' off a headed pass by Nicole Doolittle. Marshall sent it into the left corner for the only score of the match.
- Riley Hartnett tried to put the Valkyries up early just 47 seconds into the match off the first corner kick of the match. Hartnett hit it off the crossbar and the Hawks were able to clear the attack.
2nd Half:
- Converse once again sent the corners into the box with eight corners in the second half.
- The Valkyries recorded 35 total shots with 17 on target.
- Mariah Rowdy kept the shutout intact stopping the only two shots on target. Rowdy picked up her first career win.
UP NEXT
Converse returns to the pitch on September 27 as they take on Erskine in Conference Carolinas play at home. Last season the Valkyries defeated the Fleet 5-1 on the road.
