Box Score BANNER ELK, N.C.- The Valkyries Soccer team came up short against Lees-McRae in a Conference Carolinas showdown on the road in Banner Elk on Saturday afternoon as the Bobcats took the victory 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half
- Converse recorded seven shots in the half with three of those on target.
- Claudia Coffin registered the first shot for the Valkyries in the 15' but sailed it wide.
- Emily Barry and Hallie Lycans posted shots in the 16' and 20' respectively but were saved by the Bobcats keeper.
- Josee Waitrovich picked up two saves in the first stanza.
- Anna Meister sent a shot towards cage in the 37' but was saved in the final attack for the Valkyries in the half.
2nd Half
- LMC posted a shot on target in the 59' but was denied by Josee Waitrovich.
- In the 63' Mariah Elliott returned the favor but was saved by LMC's Feely.
- In the 72' LMC found the back of the net after a corner kick to take the 1-0 lead with the pass coming across the face of the goal.
- Sara Dorsett tried to find the back of the net in the 85' but the LMC keeper was able to save it.
- Aidyn Cantor had a look at cage with 18 seconds left but was unable to find the target as the last chance for Converse.
NEWS AND NOTES
Converse drops to sixth in Conference Carolinas standings with nine points. Converse still plays the top of the table Limestone (6-0), Pfeiffer (5-1) and Belmont Abbey (5-1), along with Southern Wesleyan (0-4) and North Greenville (0-6-1).
