SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Converse's attempt to tie things late in the match falls short on Wednesday evening against Mount Olive in a Conference Carolinas match as thee Valkyries fell to the Trojans 3-2.

Converse (1-4, 0-2) picked up goals from Darby Boyd (Nags Head, N.C.) and Riley Hartnett (Fredericton, New Brunswick).  Alex Marquez (West Hill, Calif.) and Emily Barry (Wheaton, Ill.) tallied an assist in the loss.

The Valkyries jumped on the board in the 8' when Marquez rips a shot towards the cage.  The Trojan keeper deflected the ball back into the box where Boyd finished for the early 1-0 lead.

Less than a minute later Mount Olive (3-2, 2-0) found the equalizer.  The initial shot went off the crossbar and fell at the feet of a Trojan attacker to even things at 1-all.

UMO took the lead in the 25' on a breakaway and headed into the half up 2-1.

The Trojans came out on the attack in the second half posting their third goal of the match off a free kick.

Converse attacked the entire match but couldn't find the back of the net.  The Valkyries had 10 corners on the evening, while the Trojans managed one.

Riley Hartnett would post her first collegiate goal in the 90' off a corner kick by Barry to cut into the deficit 3-2.

The Valkyries outshot the Trojans 15-9 gaining the advantage 7-2 in the second half.

Converse heads on the road to face Barton over the weekend.  Kick-off is at 4pm.
