MARS HILL, N.C.- The Valkyries battled to a 1-1 tie against Brevard in the final non-conference match of the season for Converse at a neutral site on Wednesday evening.  Converse moves to 10-6-1 on the season while Brevard is 4-9-2.

Converse came out of the half strong grabbing two corner kicks in the first six minutes of action.  Ella Ritchie (Derby, England) sent the corner into Halley Wisner (Rising Sun, Md.) who hit the crossbar.  The Tornados cleared the ball out but was recovered by Mariah Elliott (Tolland, Conn.) who sent a through ball up to the streaking Alex Marquez (West Hills, Calif.) finding the back of the net for the equalizer at 1-1.

Converse's Natalie Johnson (Leicester, England) had a look at cage in the 87' but the shot went high as the teams settled things in overtime.

The Valkyries did not record a shot in the first overtime as Brevard fired off four shots in the first ten minutes.  Josee Waitrovich (Waupaca, Wisc.) kept the Tornados out of the back of the net in her 65 minutes of action coming in relief for Savannah Humphries (Boiling Springs, S.C.) who played in the first half.

Marquez had two attempts in the second overtime but could not find the back of the net.  Darby Boyd (Nags Head, N.C.) had a few attempts throughout the match that looked dangerous but found the hands of the Brevard keeper.  Brevard sailed two shots high in the final thirty seconds to keep the score level.

Brevard scored in the 10' taking an early 1-0 advantage.

Converse returns to the pitch in the Conference Carolinas regular season finale against King.  It is senior day for eight Valkyries: Darby Boyd, Cimone Francis, Georgia Jones, Natalie Johnson, Olivia Grose, Erika Hanson, Mikhaila Lisicki and Bethany Spivey.
