Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Valkyrie attack was out on full force tonight tallying three goals in the first half on its way to a dominating 4-0 victory over Coker. Nicole Doolittle paced the Valkyrie attack with two goals in the first twenty minutes of action as Converse posts its fourth win in a row and third shutout in a row. Converse moves to 4-1 on the season, while Coker drops to 2-3 after the loss.
Fans were still getting comfortable in their seats when Converse struck in the first half. Nicole Doolittle (Orlando, Fla.) found a crease in the defense and netted her second career goal just 1:33 into the match. Natalie Johnson (Leicester, England) was credited with the assist.
Doolittle would find the back of the net again in the 16th minute off the foot of Georgia Jones (Solihull, England), to give the Valkyries an early 2-0 lead. Doolittle tallied her first career multi-goal match.
Bethany Spivey (Greensboro, N.C.) finished off the scoring in the first half punching it in off the deflection from Johnson off the corner kick. Johnson finished the match with three assists.
Converse dominated the first half racking up 19 shots, putting 13 on frame. Coker recorded two shots in the first half.
The Valkyrie attacked seemed to slow down coming out of the locker room after half time until Alex Marquez (West Hill, Calif.) netted her second goal of the season after Johnson crossed the ball into the box for the header.
Converse finished the match with a season high 33 shots with 20 of those on goal. Joscelyn Wallace notched her third consecutive shutout of the season recording four saves off eight Cobra shots.
Head coach John Constable played every healthy player on his roster, with the majority of those seeing action in the second half.
Converse heads to Bristol, Tenn. September 20, as the Valkyries square off with undefeated King (Tenn.) in a Conference Carolinas match. First touch is slated for 1pm.
