Belmont Abbey Tops Valkyries in Semifinals

Box Score

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Four years ago, the Valkyries didn't think that they would be in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, let alone win a postseason match.  Converse achieved both in the best season the Valkyries have ever seen.  The stellar season came to a close in the Conference Carolinas semifinals at the hands of the Belmont Abbey Crusaders, 1-0 on Friday evening.

Belmont Abbey (12-6-2) took advantage of an early corner to post the only score of the match.  Megan Philp found the back of the net in the 22', scoring off a Crusader corner from Cassidy Coutinho.

Converse finished the season with the highest win total in program history with a 15-3-1 record including a season-high 12 match unbeaten streak and a 2014 Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championship.

The Valkyries will regroup after the defeat as the team only losses one senior, Sydnie Hickey (Baltimore, Md.).
