SPARTANBURG, SC- The Valkyries hosted the Falcons of the University of Montevallo on Tuesday, falling 9-0.  Converse falls to 3-11 on the season, while the Falcons draw even at 6-6 overall.
The Valkyries had to forfeit #3 doubles, as well as #5 and #6 singles, leaving a 3-0 deficit before the match began.  At #1 doubles junior Olivia Self (Greenville, SC) and sophomore Taylor Bland (Irmo, SC) lost to Niki Polcerova and Helene Nordgreen, 8-4.  Freshman Raissa Morandi (Campinas, Brazil) and Marisa Esformes (Miami, FL) suffered the same result at the #2 doubles position.  In singles action, Morandi lost a tight first set, 7-6(5) and was down 3-2 in the second before being forced to retire due to injury.  Esformes, played a tight match at the #4 position, but was unable to pull off the victory, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.
Converse will be in action gain on Friday, Mar. 23 when they host conference foe Queens University of Charlotte at 3pm.
