2022 (Fifth Year Senior): Played in 13 games and started in nine games for a total of 815 minutes...Recorded one assist, one point and one shot.

Fall 2021 (Senior): Started and played in 13 games for 1,194 minutes.

Spring 2021 (Junior): Started all 13 games along the back line for Converse this past season and totaled 971 minutes of action. 

Prior to Converse: Mertens played two years at Spartanburg Methodist College...Over the two year span, Mertens appeared in 38 games and started 30 for the Pioneers...Mertens finished her career at SMC with two goals, one assist, five total points and five total shots. 

Prep: Competed on the soccer, track and cross country teams in high school...A 3x All-Region selection, Mertens was named best defender in the region on three different occasions and was an All-State selection her senior year...Played club soccer for Furman United and was captain of the team...Outside of Soccer, Mertens earned English honors in high school. 

Personal: Is the daughter of Shawn and Ninnie Mertens...has two siblings, Annika and Malin.
