WINGATE, N.C. – The Converse University field hockey team came away with a 1-0 win over Wingate on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Valkyries improve to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference action. Meanwhile, Wingate drops to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in South Atlantic Conference play.
It was a defensive heavy game in the opening quarter as Wingate attempted just one shot and the Valkyries were unable to get a shot off. In the second quarter

Ashley Shoffner for the only goal of the game. The Valkyries added one more shot in the fourth period, finishing with two total shots.
