Valkyries Earn 11 Medals, Three Gold, As Runners-Up At Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Converse University women's track and field team had 11 top-three finishes at the 2026 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach. The Valkyries earned three gold medals.

Meet Notes:
  • Freshman Grace Davis won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.38 seconds. She earned 10 points for the Valkyries.
    • Fellow freshman Alayah Thomas finished sixth in the event with a time of 11.97, earning three points.
  • Davis also podiumed in the 200 meters with a time of 23.87 in second place, earning eight points.
  • Junior Jermyra Bethel finished fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 55.96, earning four points.
  • The Valkyries earned nine points in the 1,500 meters as freshman Evie De Roos earned the bronze medal and six points with a time of 4:47.68. Sophomore Sara Aguiar Torre netted three points with a sixth-place finish.
  • Aguiar Torre also scored two points in the 5K with a time of 19:25.30 in seventh place.
  • Three Valkyries combined for 13 points in the 100-meter hurdles as junior Kamille Cunningham took home the bronze medal with a time of 14.35 seconds.
  • Freshman Kyla Beasley won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.69, earning 10 points.
    • Wright completed the one-two finish with a time of 1:04.12. Senior Latavia Bracey-Ransom finished seventh with a time of 1:09.15 and earned two points.
  • Junior Paisley Stepp earned the bronze medal in the steeplechase with a time of 11:51.42. Freshman Ines Pierrefitte finished right behind her with a time of 12:02.02. Junior Mackenzie Crandell earned two points with a seventh-place finish, with the trio combining for 13 points.
  • The Valkyries finished second in both relays.
    • The quartet of Cunningham, Alayah Thomas, Wright and Davis finished the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.61.
    • The 4x400-meter relay team of Thomas, Wright, Beasley and Bethel recorded a time of 3:54.16.
  • Cunningham finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.71 meters. D'Asia Thomas scored 3.5 points with a fifth-place finish and a mark of 1.59 meters.
  • Senior Bella Martin finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.52 meters. She also finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 11.86 meters.
    • She scored two points with a seventh-place finish in the discus.
  • Cunningham won the heptathlon with 4,965 points. D'Asia Thomas finished fifth with 4,004 points. They combined to net the Valkyries 14 team points.
