FRANKLIN SPRINGS & ROME, Ga. – The Converse University women's tennis team secured a pair of 5-2 Conference Carolinas victories this past weekend, topping Emmanuel on Friday and Shorter on Saturday.

With the wins, the Valkyries improve to 9-8 overall and 8-2 in conference play.

Match One: Converse 5, Emmanuel 2

The Valkyries took doubles via an Emmanuel forfeit at No. 3 doubles and a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles from seniors Khushi Kharb and Lais Martins.

The Valkyries picked up another point with a default win at No. 6 singles. Kharb secured her match via opponent retirement at No. 1 singles. Converse won the match as Martins won 6-1 in consecutive sets at No. 3 singles.

Sophomore Romy Rueff won a 6-4, 6-2 decision at No. 5 singles to round out the match as a 5-2 Converse victory.

Match Two: Converse 5, Shorter 2

Kharb and Martins won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Rueff and senior Laurel Maynor also won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Tamanna Panwar and freshman Ellie Luppino secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Kharb won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Maynor followed with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles. Rueff won her second match of the weekend with 6-0 victories in consecutive sets. Freshman Camille Lacombe wrapped up the match with a 6-0 victory in consecutive sets at No. 6 singles.

Next Up For Converse:
The Valkyries are back in action on Wednesday, April 15, as they head to Banner Elk, North Carolina, to take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats. The match is set to begin at 2 P.M.
