Obenchain and Skee Reach Career Milestones Against Owls

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University lacrosse fell 17-6 against Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday night inside Weisiger Stadium.

With the loss Converse drops to 3-5 overall on the season and Southern Connecticut State improves to 6-1 on the year. Sophomore goalie Abigail Skee recorded her 100th career save on Wednesday evening, while senior Hailey Obenchain became the first player in program history to record 150 assists, 150 goals and 300 points in a career. Obenchain is one of four active players in Division II with at least 300 points and she is one of just three players nationwide with at least 150 assists in her career.

The Owls got on the board first with a goal just 30 seconds into the game. Brooklyn Walker found Kaitlyn Oliver for the game tying goal three minutes later. Nearly five minutes of game time went by before Obenchain found Walker for the Valkyries second goal of the evening.

Southern Connecticut State then scored the next nine goals to take a 10-2 lead against the Valkyries. Becky Reinhard scored with just 54 seconds left in the half to give the Valkyries their third goal of the half. The Owls scored one more time before the halftime buzzer to take an 11-3 lead into the locker room.

The third quarter was not much better for the Valkyries as they were outscored 3-1 by the Owls. In the fourth quarter both Obenchain and Zoey Jacobs scored, but it was to little to late as the Owls went on to pickup a 17-6 win.
