Valkyries Predicted Second in Outdoor Preseason Poll; Cunningham, Davis and De Roos Tabbed Athletes to Watch

GREENVILLE, S.C.  –  With the conclusion of the indoor track season looming and the beginning of the outdoor track season just around the corner, Conference Carolinas released their Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Poll with the Converse University Valkyries coming in second.

Conference Carolinas also released their list of Athletes to Watch and junior Kamille Cunningham, freshman Grace Davis and freshman Evie De Roos earned the honor.

Cunningham, a junior from Columbia, is a four-time outdoor all-conference performer: 2025 second team All-Conference Carolinas in the heptathlon and high jump, 2025 third team All-Conference Carolinas in the 4x100 meter relay and 2024 third team All-Conference Carolinas in the high jump.

Davis, a freshman from Greenville, was the Conference Carolinas champion in the indoor 60-meter dash. She will compete this weekend in the event this weekend at indoor nationals.

De Roos, a freshman from De Bilt, Utrecht, The Netherlands, was the Converse cross country team's top finisher at the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championships, finishing 10th overall with a time of 23:51.82 in the 6K. During indoor track, she was the Conference Carolinas champion in the 800 meters and was part of the silver-medal distance medley relay team.

Mount Olive topped the preseason poll with 192 points and 13 of the available 14 first-place votes.

Converse finished second with 170 points and one first-place vote.

North Greenville, Belmont Abbey and Lees-McRae rounded out the top five with 160, 152 and 132 points, respectively.

UNC Pembroke finished sixth with 123 points followed by Francis Marion in seventh place, earning the league's final first-place vote.

Southern Wesleyan, in eighth place, was the final team over 100 points with 110.

Barton, King and Emmanuel followed with 81, 80 and 76 points respectively.

Ferrum received 69 points in 12th. Shorter and Young Harris were separated by four points for 13th and 14th with 46 and 42 points respectively.

Erskine rounded out the poll.
