WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Highlighted by victories in both the men's and women's 60-meter dashes, the Converse University track and field teams competed this past weekend in the Camel City Sprints and Camel City Distance meets at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

Freshman Grace Davis improved on her Division-II best time in the 60-meter dash in Friday's meet.

Men's Notes

• Junior Dorian Bomar won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.72. Freshman Xavier Dixon finished with a time of 6.78 in second place. Senior Devron Davis ran a time of 6.85 in sixth.
• Sophomore Dre'Kevan Thomas finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles and junior Nick Tibolla finished sixth with a time of 8.19.
• Dixon and Davis finished consecutively in the seeded 200 meters, finishing fifth and sixth.
• Freshman Neale Johnson finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 49.38.
• Senior Isaac Gilmore finished fifth in the seeded 400 meters with a time of 48.67.
• Johnson finished first in the long jump with a mark of 7.07 meters. Junior Omarion Belton finished sixth in the event with a mark of 6.89 meters.
• The men's 4x400 meter relay team finished second with a time of 3:21.22.
• Belton hit a mark of 13.82 meters in the triple jump.
• Sophomore Alex Porter finished first amongst the Valkyries in the 3K with a time of 8:56.05 in 26th.
• Freshman Benjamin Notarangelo and junior Hunter Heron finished the 800 meters with times of 1:58.01 and 2:02.30 respectively. Sophomore Reece Evans finished with a time of 2:05.32.
• Sophomore Ander Vera Moleres finished the mile with a time of 4:23.51.

Women's Notes

• Davis posted a time of 7.27 in the 60-meter dash finals. She first improved her time with a 7.28 in the prelims. She ranks first in Division II in the event.
  • Freshman Alayah Thomas ran a 7.62 in the event and finished in sixth.
• Thomas also finished with a time of 25.41 in the 200 meters. She finished in seventh.
• Davis finished with a time of 24.39 in the seeded 200 meters. She finished fourth.
• Junior Jermyra Bethel finished the seeded 400 meters with a time of 58.39.
• Senior Bella Martin hit a mark of 15.46 meters in the weight throw, placing 12th.
• Freshman Evie De Roos ran the 800 meters in a time of 2:18.99, finishing eighth.
• Sophomore Sara Aguiar Torre finished the mile with a time of 5:20.05.
• Freshman Ines Pierrefitte and juniors Paisley Stepp and Mackenzie Crandell competed in the 3K with times of 10:59.63, 11:08.74 and 11:33.03 respectively.
• Sophomore Anna Evatt and Martin finished consecutively in the shot put with marks of 11.16 meters and 11.06 meters respectively.

The Valkyries are back in action on Feb. 22 and 23 for the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championships at JDL Fast Track.
