SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – After having much of their early season contests canceled due to winter weather, the Converse University men's and women's tennis teams took on across-the-street foe Wofford on Saturday afternoon. The Valkyrie men fell 4-1 while the Converse women fell 7-0. Both matches count as exhibitions for the Valkyries.

Men's Notes:
The Valkyries opened by taking the doubles point. After Wofford took No. 3 doubles, juniors Ben Hyde-Smith and Remedios Naval won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Lucas Walker and senior Marty Letessier followed with a 7-6 victory at No. 1 doubles, securing the Valkyries' lone point of the day.

Wofford secured wins at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-0), No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-1), No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-2) and No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-4), winning the match 4-1.

Women's Notes:
Wofford won all three doubles matches by a score of 6-0.

They won singles matches in the following order: No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-1), No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-1), No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-1), No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-2), No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-0) and No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-1).

Next Up For Converse:
Both Converse tennis teams return to Division II action for their next matches. The Converse men have a quick turnaround and host North Georgia Nighthawks tomorrow, Feb. 8, at 1 P.M. The Converse women have a longer break and head to Hickory, North Carolina to take on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Tuesday, Feb. 17. That match also begins at 1 P.M.
