LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Converse University cross country teams had strong showings Saturday morning at the Louisville Cross Country Classic with junior Ander Vera Moleres leading the Valkyries to a third-place team finish by winning the men's 8K and the women's team finishing eighth overall in the 6K.

The Converse men finished first among Division II competition, and the women finished second among Division II competition.

Women's Notes:

• Sophomore Evie De Roos was the Valkyries' top finisher in 27th with a time of 23:39.4.
• * Sophomore Ines Pierrefitte and junior Sara Aguiar Torre finished second and third in consecutive places, in 41st and 42nd place with times of 24:00.9 and 24:01.6, respectively.
• Freshman Zarya Mines finished five spots later for the Valkyries with a time of 24:07.5 in 47th place.
• Senior Paisley Stepp rounded out the Valkyries' scoring with a time of 25:23.7 in 102nd place.
• Junior Peyton MacMillan finished three places later with a time of 25:29.1.
• Freshman Alyssa Skory ran a time of 25:33.6 in 108th place.
• Senior Mackenzie Crandell finished the race with a time of 26:06.5 in 130th place.
• Freshman Myla Mason and junior Hailey Jones rounded out the Valkyries' performance with times of 26:28.2 and 26:56.1 in 142nd and 147th place, respectively.

Men's Notes:  

• Vera Moleres won the race with a time of 25:05.7.
• Freshman Lucas Boulakia finished next for the Valkyries with a time of 25:38.6 in 15th place.
• Sophomore James Hook finished third for the Valkyries with a time of 25:56.9 in 26th place.
• Junior Alex Porter was the next to finish for the Valkyries. He recorded a time of 26:20.6 in 43rd place.
• Fellow junior Reece Evans rounded out the scoring for Converse with a time of 26:57.5 in 86th place.
• Sophomore Benjamin Notarangelo and junior Marti Ruiz Barreda were the next Valkyries to finish in 102nd and 111th, respectively, with times of 27:12.6 and 27:16.7.
• Senior Hunter Heron finished next 30 places later in 141st with a time of 27:54.5.
• Freshmen Jayden Finney and Cameron Bybee finished within four places of one another in 168th and 171st place. They recorded times of 28:31.2 and 28:33.0, respectively.
• Freshman Ethan Lyon rounded out the Valkyries' day with a time of 29:14.5 in 193rd place.

Next Up:
The Valkyries are back in action on Friday, Oct. 9, at the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University. It will be a night race in Charlotte, North Carolina.
