Ausland Blanks No. 17 Lees-McRae as Valkyries and Bobcats Draw

BANNER ELK, N.C. – For the second time this season, the Converse University men's soccer team (6-2-5, 4-1-4 Conference Carolinas) drew a match with the No. 17 team in the country as they ended Sunday's divisional contest with the Lees-McRae Bobcats (10-0-3, 6-0-3 Conference Carolinas) in a scoreless draw.

The Valkyries opened the season on the road against then-17th-ranked Anderson University, a match that ended in a 2-2 draw. It is also the Valkyries' third draw against a nationally-ranked opponent this season, as the Bobcats and Valkyries drew in their Sept. 8 meeting at Weisiger Stadium.

The Valkyries attempted eight shots in the match, a one-shot edge over the Bobcats. Both teams attempted just a pair of shots on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Thiago Ausland recorded two saves while playing all 90 minutes in Sunday's contest.

Next Up For the Valkyries:
The Valkyries return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 13, as they wrap up nonconference play against the Coker Cobras. The match is set to begin at 7 P.M.
