Prior to that, Brown posted the first 10 points for the Valkyries. Pembroke added just one point to their lead the rest of the way as they held onto a 28-26 lead heading into halftime.

An early-second-half run from the Braves put them up by nine points with just under seven minutes remaining in the quarter. The Valkyries fought back to cut the lead to five points on two different occasions, including at the end of the quarter as Pembroke took a 43-38 lead into the final quarter.
