St. Louis, Mo. – The Converse University field hockey team made the long jaunt out to the Gateway City on Saturday morning and defeated Maryville (MO) 2-0 at the Maryville Athletic Conference.
With the win the Valkyries improve to 5-2 overall this season and 3-0 in road contests. This is also the Valkyries second straight win over the Saints dating back to the first meetup in 2022. Maryville, meanwhile, drops to 4-2 overall on the season and ends a four match winning streak dating back to the start of September.
Senior
Kilee Bradeen led the Valkyries offensive attack on Saturday morning picking up the first goal of the game and assisting on the Valkyries only other goal. Sophomore
Ashley Shoffner scored her first goal of the season off the Bradeen assist to give the Valkyries a two goal advantage over the Saints in the opening half.
Alyssa Bonneau made her second career start in goal for the Valkyries on Saturday afternoon. The freshman made eight saves and registered her first career shutout against Maryville. Bonneau is now 2-0 on the season as the Valkyries starting goalkeeper.
Despite a 13-hour journey out to St. Louis the Valkyries came out the gate ready to go against Maryville. Converse outshot the Saints 8-0 in the first half and 12-2 in the opening period. The Valkyries went on to outshot Maryville 21-13 overall in the game and 12-8 in shots on goal.

The Converse Field Hockey team will be back at Weisiger Stadium this coming Tuesday night when they battle the Barton Bulldogs. Tuesday evening will also be the Valkyries Most Valuable Professor (MVP) night, everything will start at 6:00 p.m.
