SPARTANBURG, S.C. – It was a day of celebration all around as the Converse University men's soccer team (3-2, 2-0 Conference Carolinas) defeated Southern Wesleyan (2-3, 0-2 Conference Carolinas) 2-1, earning head coach Rob Miller his 300th career victory as a head coach.

Miller's record includes his time at both NCAA member and non-member institutions as well as his two years as the head coach of the Valkyries' women's soccer team in 2023 and 2024.

The Valkyries struck first as senior forward Guilherme Fontes scored a goal in the 17th minute off of an assist from freshman forward Henrik Balzer. There was just one shot on goal the rest of the first half, coming from junior forward Kade Smith when exactly 26 minutes had elapsed off the clock.

It took Converse just 35 seconds into the second half to double the lead as freshman forward Levi Bankirer netted a goal off of an assist from sophomore midfielder Jesper Schierholz.

A foul in the box in the 83rd minute led to a penalty-kick goal for Southern Wesleyan, but they didn't manage another shot in the final seven minutes of the game as Converse held on to win 2-1.
