SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University field hockey team completed the season sweep of Coker on Tuesday evening, defeating the Cobras 8-1 at Weisiger Stadium.
With the win the Valkyries improve to 3-2 overall on the season and 2-1 in South Atlantic Conference action. Meanwhile, the Cobras drop to 1-3 overall on the season and 1-2 in South Atlantic Conference play. Converse extends their win streak over Coker to nine straight games dating back to the 2021 season.
Converse came out the gate ready to go against the Cobras and they found the back of the net with four minutes to go in the period.
Kilee Bradeen found
Amparo Figueroa for her eighth goal of the season.
In the second quarter, Converse continued to attack as Bradeen scored the second goal of the game two minutes into the period. About 90 seconds later,
Delfi Gonzalez found
Edith Swaan for the third goal of the season. The Valkyries went into the halftime break up 3-0 and outshot the Cobras 7-0 in the first half.
In the third quarter, Converse put their foot on the pedal as Bradeen and Figueroa connected for their second goal of the night. Two minutes later Bradeen and Figueroa assisted on the
Mayla Weissenrieder putting the Valkyries up 5-0. About 90 seconds later, Figueroa found
Isabella Massafra for the Valkyries sixth goal of the night. Coker scored their lone goal of the match with two minutes in the third period.
In the final quarter of the night Swaan and Gonzalez both scored goals for the Valkyries. Converse finished the night out scoring the Cobras 8-1 and outshooting Coker 20-3.
