The Tournament:
The Converse University volleyball team is hosting their first tournament in over a decade inside the Weisiger Center this coming weekend. The Valkyries will welcome the defending national champions Lynn on Friday night, along with Fayetteville State and conference foe Erskine.  
 
Converse Notes:
  • The Converse volleyball team is 3-0 overall this season with wins over Edinboro, Auburn Montgomery and Tusculum.
  • With the Valkyries win over Auburn University Montgomery last Friday, head coach Alexis Ivey became the Valkyries All-Time winningest head coach in the NCAA Era.
  • Against Tusculum the Valkyries had five players finish with double-digit kills for the first in the programs NCAA era history.
  • Alysha Arroyo and Jayden Johnson both finished with 20+ assists against Tusculum, this was the first time the duo accomplished the feat since the Robert Wesleyan match from a season ago.
  • The Valkyries are currently leading the Conference in assists per set, hitting percentage, kills per set and winning percentage.
  • Converse is averaging 13.1 kills per set, 12.5 assists per set, 1.8 aces per set, 14.0 digs per set and 1.3 blocks per set.
  • Bree Lyons leads the team with 38 kills on the season, Alayah Robertson is second on the team with 28 kills, and Ariel Bryant is third on the team with 27 kills.
  • Arroyo leads the team with 92 assists on the season, Johnson is second on the team with 30 assists. Noemia Chiacchio leads the team with five service aces and 53 digs on the year.
  • Freshman Lilli Redifer is second on the team with 25 digs and Arroyo is third on the team with 20 digs. Robertson leads the team with 8 blocks on the season, while Ariel Bryant is second on the team with 6 blocks and Ariana Bryant is third on the team with 5 blocks.
  • This will be the Valkyries first time hosting Lynn and the first time hosting a nationally ranked team in their home venue.
  • For Converse this will be the second all-time meeting against Fayetteville State. The Valkyries won the only other meeting 3-1 back in the 2022 season.
 
Lynn Notes:
  • For the second straight week Lynn is ranked No. 1 in the AVCA Top 25 poll. The Fighting Knights went 4-0 last week at the Adelphi/Molloy/Queens Tournament.
  • Lynn picked up a trio of sweeps against Adelphi, Queens and Wilmington. Meanwhile, No. 19 Gannon picked up a third set victory to avoid a straight sets sweep against Lynn.
  • Lyn is averaging 13.9 kills per set, 13.2 assists per set, 2.5 aces per set, 14.0 digs per set and 1.9 blocks per set.
  • Nadia Rossi leads the team with 44 kills on the season, Valentina Mogg is second on the team with 38 kills and Brooke Jackson is third on the team with 28 kills. Ula Gorjup leads the team with 130 assists on the season, while Madison Jones has a team best nine service aces.
  • Clara Maidantchik leads the team with 59 digs on the year, Mogg is second on the team with 37 digs and Rossi is third on the team with 32 digs. Aline Olegario leads the team with 10 total blocks on the season and Lillia Neill is second on the team with six blocks.
 
Fayetteville State Notes:
  • Fayetteville State is 2-1 overall this season after competing in the North Greenville Tournament a week ago. The Broncos picked up wins against West Alabama and Mars Hill, while dropping their lone match to North Greenville.
  • The Broncos are averaging 11.9 kills per set, 10.7 assists per set, 1.6 aces per set, 14.4 digs per set and 1.9 blocks per set.
  • Symone Morris leads the team with 52 kills on the season, Chiara Vittoni is second on the team with 43 kills and Amihan Johnson is third on the team with 18 kills.
  • Giovanna Teixeira leads the team with 109 assists on the season and Amihan Johnson leads the team with six service aces.
  • Jasmine Culp leads the team with 45 digs, Morris is second on the team with 42 digs and Teixeira is third on the team with 33 digs. Johnson leads the team with 13 blocks and Milana Cvetkovski is second on the team with 10 blocks.
 
Erskine Notes:
  • Erskine is 0-3 overall this season after a trip out to Nashville for the Ray Thrasher Classic. The Flying Fleet picked up straight set losses to University of Jamestown, Wayne State and went five sets with Henderson State.
  • Erskine is averaging 8.1 kills per set, 7.6 assists per set, 1.1 aces per set, 11.1 digs per set, and 0.3 blocks per set.
  • Ella Dietrich leads the team with 20 kills, Becca Yohe is second on the team with 17 kills and Ali Angell is third on the team with 16 kills.
  • Meghan DeWalt leads the team with 48 assists on the season, Kinslee Smith is second on the team with 23 assists and currently leads the team with three service aces.
  • Mahayla Law leads the team with 19 digs on the year, Jordyn Autry is second on the team with 18 digs, MJ Hurd and Yohe are tied for second with 17 digs each. Yohe leads the team with three blocks on the season, while Eietrich is second on the team with two blocks.
