The Series
This will be the eighth all-time meeting between Converse and Lander dating back to the 2022 season. The Valkyries are 4-3 all-time against the Bearcats, however, Lander has won the last three meetings between the two squads.
 
This will be just the second ever meeting between Converse and Slippery Rock on Sunday afternoon. Converse won the only other matchup 2-1 at Slippery Rock in September of 2023.
 
Converse Notes
  • Converse is 2-0 overall on the season and 1-0 in South Atlantic Conference action. The Valkyries defeated Barton 8-0 and Coker 6-1 to kickoff the 2025 campaign.
  • The Valkyries 14 opening week goals are the most in program history, topping the previous record 12 set by the 2022 Field Hockey team.
  • Sophomore Amparo Figueroa is off to a hot start this season scoring six goals in the first two games of the season. Figueroa tied the program record for goals in game (4) against Barton on Saturday afternoon. Yesterday, the South Atlantic Conference office announced that she was named Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
  • As a team the Valkyries are averaging 7.0 goals per game, 25.0 shots per game, 17.5 shots on goal per game, 5.0 assists per game, 9.5 corners per game and 1.5 saves per game.
  • Helping Figueroa out offensively this season is seniors Kilee Bradeen and Remington Lewis who are both second on the team with two goals each. Bradeen, Chelsy Bunse and Sage Pilarski are all tied for the team lead with two assists each on the season.
  • Alina Puentes has made both starts in goal for the Valkyries this season, leading the team in saves (3) and save percentage (.750).    
 
Lander Notes
  • Lander is 1-0 overall this season and is coming off a 2-1 win over Frostburg State.
  • The Bearcats are averaging 2.0 goals per game this season, 11.0 shots per game, 7.0 shots on goal per game, 2.0 assists per game, 4.0 corners per game and 1.0 saves per game.
  • Lauren Punt leads the team with a trio of points on the season, followed by Leira Van Tilburg with two points and Puck Hoenderdos with one point.
  • Punt and Van Tilburg each have goal this season, while Punt and Hoenderdos both have an assist after the opening matchup.
  • Isabel Elenga played every minute in goal for the Bearcats on Sunday, making one save and posting a .500 save percentage.
 
Slippery Rock Notes
  • Slippery Rock is 2-0 overall on the season with wins over Adelphi and Pace last week.
  • The Rocks are averaging 1.50 goals per game this season, 7.0 shots per game, 4.0 shots on goal per game, 1.0 assists per game, 2.0 corners per game and 1.5 saves per game this season.
  • Lucy Hutchinson leads the team with four points and two goals this season. Coral Piramo is second on the team with two points and one goal.
  • Hilary Hoffman and Grace Williams are both tied for the team lead with one assist each.
  • Leah Riegling has started both games in goal for the Rocks this season, posting a trio of saves and a .750 save percentage.
