Honors: NFHCA National Academic Squad

2024 (Sophomore): Appeared in 8 games this season and made 7 starts in goal for the Valkyries...Tallied 340 minutes of game time, allowed 10 goals, posted a 1.76 goals against average, made 29 saves, recorded one shutout and faced 52 shots. 

2023 (Freshman): Appeared in 8 games and made 6 starts in goal for Converse this season...Tallied 417 minutes of game time, made 24 saves on 51 shots faced and posted a .585 save percentage. 

Prep: While in high school, Puentes competed in field hockey, soccer, swim and winter track. Puentes was captain of the team for three years, earned Defensive Player of the Year Honors, broke the record for saves per year and for a drive. Puentes led the district in saves for three straight seasons and was named Second Team All-District and All-Region Honorable Mention. Puentes played club hockey for Panthers United. Outside of field hockey, Puentes was a member of NJROTC, DECA, YStreet, Leadership Club, Younglife/Wyldlife, Minority Law and Research Institute Delegate, NWTF, National Honor Society, Every Mind Matters, Octogan Club, Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy, Drill Team, PT Team, Academic Team and Leo’s Club. Puentes held leadership roles as the NJROTC Commanding Officer of the Unit, Ystreet Leadership Team, Class Delegate, Octogan Club Treasurer, DECA District 19 President and VP of Leadership, Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy Head Committee. Puentes was also a member of the National Honor Society, four-year member of the Honor Roll, Virginia Girls State Representative, Leadership Naval Academy Graduate for NJROTC and MLARI Delegate.    

Personal: Is the daughter of Micheal Gaines and Kitty Puentes...has one sister named Kayla.
