Women's Track & Field

Okoduwa, Men’s 4x100 Relay Team Selected to Compete At NCAA Outdoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – With the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Selection Show complete, five members of the Converse track & field teams, one individual and one relay team, are set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo, Colorado.

On the women's side, senior Eseose Okoduwa qualified in the 100 meter dash. Okoduwa ranks 22nd nationally in the event with a season-best time of 11.48 achieved at the 2025 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships. She set school, conference, and Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championship meet records with the time. Okoduwa first surpassed the NCAA Provisional mark of 11.76 seconds at the Florida Relays on April 5, running a time of 11.70.

On the men's side, the Valkyries' 4x100 meter relay team of, sophomore Dorian Bomar, junior Devron Davis, graduate student Zephaniah Cox Jr. and senior Gavin McFadden ranked sixth nationally, fifth when excluding repeat athletes, with a season-best time of 39.79 achieved at the 2025 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships. The quartet first ran the event together at the Florida Relays on April 5 and immediately set both (at the time) school and conference records with a time of 39.85. At the time of the meet, the Valkyries were tied for first nationally in the event.

"It's a great accomplishment to have a group heading to nationals. It'll be a first for Converse track and field," stated director of track and field Brandon Morton. The 4x100 relay has been at a national level all year so now we get to compete on the biggest stage. Eseose has been a consistent pillar for our women's sprint program and the greatest sprinter in the history of our program. For her and the relay team to make it to nationals in the most competitive year Division II has ever seen is a major accomplishment."

Both Okoduwa and the 4x100 relay team were Conference Carolinas champions in their respective events. The men's relay team are the first male track athletes from Converse to qualify for the National Championship meet. Okoduwa becomes the second female athlete in program history to qualify but will become the first female Valkyrie to compete at the event.

The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships are on May 22-24 at the Colorado State University Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado.
