SUMTER, S.C. - By winning the doubles point and three singles matches, the Converse University men's tennis team (13-5, 7-2 Conference Carolinas) advanced to its first-ever Conference Carolinas Championship match by defeating No. 3 Francis Marion 4-1 in the semifinal match.

Junior Stanley Waters and sophomore Takuma Furumaki won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles while sophomore Ben Hyde-Smith and freshman Lucas Walker won 6-3 to secure the doubles point.

Furumaki won 7-5 in set one at No. 3 singles but cruised in set two, winning 6-0. Junior Marty Letessier won 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Senior Leopold Morel won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles and the Valkyries advanced to the championship match

The Valkyries take on Belmont Abbey in the Conference Carolinas Championship match at 1 P.M. on Sunday.
