Converse Women In Second, Men In Fourth After Two Days of Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Graduate student Jordan Brown's third consecutive Conference Carolinas high jump championship highlighted the first two days of the Converse track and field teams' trip to Myrtle Beach for the 2025 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships. The Converse men have finished second in two different events.

Women's Notes:
  • Senior Eseose Okoduwa qualified third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.44 in Thursday's preliminary rounds.
  • Junior Lauren Beatty scored six points for the Valkyries with a third-place finish in the 10,000 meters. She finished with a time of 38:20.75.
  • Fellow junior Bella Martin also scored six points with a third-place finish in the hammer throw, hitting a mark of 50.69 meters.
  • Okoduwa again had a top-three finish in the prelims, finishing second in the 100 meter dash preliminary rounds.
  • Sophomore Jermyra Bethel finished in the same spot in the 400 meter dash prelims. Freshman Triniti Muldrow-Green also qualified for the finals with a seventh-place finish.
  • Fellow freshman Kennedy Wright qualified for the finals in the 100 meter hurdles with a fourth-place finish.
  • Sophomore Paisley Stepp finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, scoring eight points with a time of 11:57.66. Fellow sophomore Mackenzie Crandell finished fourth, scoring five points with a time of 12:28.95.
  • Graduate student Jordan Brown wrapped up her dominant career in the high jump with another first-place finish and a mark of 1.65 meters. She scored the Valkyries 10 points.
    • Cunningham finished second in the event with a mark of 1.62 meters, scoring eight points. Janyia Pinckney finished sixth and netted the Valkyries three points.
  • Freshman Anna Katherine Evatt finished sixth in the discus throw with a mark of 37.89 meters. She scored three points.
  • Sophomore Kamille Cunningham finished second in the heptathlon with 4,338 points. She added eight points to the Valkyries' team total. D'Asia Thomas scored one point with an eighth-place finish.
  • Entering the final day of competition, the Valkyries are in second place behind Mount Olive.
Men's Notes:
  • Three Valkyries qualified for the 200 meter dash finals by placing top eight in the preliminary rounds on Thursday. Junior Devron Davis, sophomore Dorian Bomar and senior Gavin McFadden will all take place in the finals on Saturday.
  • Sophomore Alain Flores placed first in the 1,500 meters prelims on Thursday with a time of 3:59.73.
  • Junior Jaxon Wright scored the Valkyries two points with a seventh-place finish in Thursday's 10,000 meter run. He ran a time of 33:29.12.
  • Sophomore Aubrey Hemphill also scored two points for the Valkyries with a seventh-place finish in the hammer throw. He hit a mark of 46.70 meters.
  • The Valkyries took the top three spots in the 100 meter prelims with Bomar, graduate student Zephaniah Cox Jr., and McFadden taking the top three spots. Davis also qualified for the finals.
  • Freshman Jacob Wren qualified for the finals in the 800 meters with a fifth-place finish in the prelims.
  • Sophomore Nick Tibolla and freshman Dre'Kevan Thomas took top-three spots in the 110 meter hurdles prelims, with Tibolla the fastest of 13 competitors. Senior Donald Medley also qualified for the finals.
  • Freshman Kyan Sapko qualified first in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.58.
  • Senior Luis Rios Brena scored the Valkyries eight points by finishing second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
  • Sophomore Omarion Belton finished second in the long jump finals with a mark of 7.07 meters, scoring the Valkyries another eight points. Junior Kaden Gamble scored the Valkyries six points by finishing third in the event with a mark of 6.89 meters.
  • At the end of the second day, the Valkyries sit at fourth behind Mount Olive, UNC Pembroke and Belmont Abbey. Converse is projected to finish second.

The Conference Carolinas Championships wrap up tomorrow in Myrtle Beach.
