Branen and Gibson Record RBIs Against North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C.  – The Converse University softball team (13-23, 5-7 Conference Carolinas) fell in both games of their doubleheader against the North Greenville Trailblazer (23-15, 9-7 Conference Carolinas) at Jan McDonald Field on the campus of North Greenville University.

Senior Riley Lingerfelt suffered the loss in game one. She pitched all six innings and allowed five runs, four earned. She struck out four batters. Freshman CJ McBride suffered the loss in game two. She allowed seven runs, four earned, and struck out two batter

Game One: North Greenville 5, Converse 1

North Greenville started the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Converse collected their only two hits of the game in the top of the fifth inning. Sophomore Madison Davis singled with one out. Freshman Addie Branen doubled two batters later, scoring Davis.

The Trailblazers added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Game Two: North Greenville 8, Converse 1

The Valkyries started the scoring with two outs in the first inning. Sophomore Karlie Gibson singled through the left side of the infield, scoring freshman Charley Swartzel from third base.

The Valkyries' lead held until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Trailblazers scored eight runs.

On deck for the Valkyries:
The Valkyries return to the diamond on Friday, April 4, as they head to Due West to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet. First pitch is scheduled for 2 P.M. The Valkyries wrap up their road trip on Saturday, April 5, as they head to Young Harris, Georgia. First pitch is scheduled for 1 P.M.
