SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – With their first conference win and sixth victory overall of the season, the Converse University men's tennis team (6-4, 1-1 Conference Carolinas) extended their win streak to five matches, the longest in the program's short history. The Valkyries defeated the Emmanuel University Lions (4-6, 1-1 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 4-3 Tuesday afternoon at the Sally Abney Rose Complex on the campus of Converse University.

The previous record, which the Valkyries set last season, was four matches. It spanned from Feb. 17, 2024-March 3, 2024 and saw the Valkyries defeat: USC Sumter, Coker, Benedict and Emory & Henry (in that order).

Junior Stanley Waters and sophomore Takuma Furumaki won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles while freshman Lucas Walker and sophomore Ben Hyde-Smith won 6-2 at No. 3 doubles to secure the doubles point.

Sophomore Manuel Roncero needed three sets, but secured a victory at No. 1 singles. He won 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to win his fifth match of the season at the top court.

Walker won in two sets at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Senior Leopold Morel also needed three sets but secured the match with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.

Next Up For Converse:
The Valkyries are back in action on Friday, March 21 as they host the Chowan Hawks at the Rose. Converse then returns to the court on Saturday, March 22 as they celebrate senior day against the Barton Bulldogs. Both matches are set to begin at 2 P.M.
