BELMONT, N.C. – The Converse University lacrosse team fell 24-10 to Belmont Abbey on Tuesday night at Alumni Field.
 
With the loss, Converse falls to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in Conference Carolinas action. Meanwhile, Belmont Abbey improves to 4-4 overall on the season and 2-0 Conference Carolinas play. For the fifth time this season Becky Reinhard finished with at least four goals in a contest. Hailey Obenchain with her fourth quarter goal became the sixth player in program history to record 100 career goals.
 
The Valkyries found themselves down early in the first five minutes of the game. Trailing 4-1 to the Crusaders, Gencie Coan got the Valkyries on the board first. Converse went into the second quarter down 6-1 to Belmont Abbey.
 
Converse scored the opening goal of the second quarter and eventually were eventually back within a trio of goals following goals by Reinhard and Coan. Belmont Abbey built their lead back up to four, before Karter Lauer scored back-to-back goals for the Valkyries. Converse gave up six unanswered to end the quarter and trailed 14-6 at halftime.
 
The Valkyries attempted a comeback in the second half but were outscored 10-4 over the final two quarters of action.
