CARY, N.C. – The Converse University swim team wrapped up the Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday evening, the men's team finished third overall while the women's team finished fourth overall.
Freshman
Henry Stockton won his second individual gold of the Championships on Saturday evening. This time the freshman won the 1650 free event with a time of 15:52.40. Tonight's event coupled with his outstanding performance from the previous three days earned him Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year honors.
Head Coach
Logan Simpson is in his third season at the helm of the Converse swim program. This is the first time in program history that both the men and the women's programs have finished inside the top-five at the Conference Carolinas Championships. With the men's third place performance this week, Simpson brings home Conference Carolinas Men's Coach of the Year honors.
In the women's 1650 free event,
Kaitlin Williams finished 11
th overall with a time of 18:58.55. Besides Stockton,
Micah Lesley finished seventh overall in the men's 1650 free event with a time of 16:27.07. Kir Lyzhin also competed in the event and finished 11
th overall with a time of 17:14.15.
In the women's 200 backstroke event, Milly Byrne finished fourth overall with a time of 2:05.58, while
Ansley Young finished seventh overall with a time of 2:12.94.
Sofiya Gobora finished just inside the top-10 with a time of 2:11.63.
In the men's 200 backstroke event, Lyzhin finished 10
th overall with a time of 2:01.47 and
Davis Dial finished 13
th overall with a time of 2:06.69.
In the women's 100-yard free event,
Alison Ludeman finished fifth overall with a time of 52.48 seconds.
Joey Lilley finished eight overall on the men's side with a time of 46.62 seconds.
Daniel Merzthal finished right behind with a ninth place finish and
Keith Rogers finished 13
th overall in the event.
In the women's 200-yard breaststroke event,
Ember Hill finished ninth overall with a time of 2:31.54, Juli Ganim finished 13
th overall in the event with a time of 2:38.10 and
Kate Hollingsworth finished 14
th overall with a time of 2:38.62.
In the men's 200-yard breaststroke event,
Louis Milczynski finished seventh overall with a time of 2:09.06.
Tyler Leal finished 12
th in the event with a time of 2:13.10 and
Jaxon Tschikof finished 16
th overall with a time of 2:19.81.
In the 200-yard Butterfly event, Katie Beebe finished eighth overall with a time of 2:12.52 and
Mayle Iwanski finished 14
th overall with a time of 2:19.70. In the men's 200-yard Butterfly event,
Alexander Kuznetsov finished sixth overall with a time of 1:57.33,
Ryan Hunt finished ninth overall with a time of 2:00.45,
Luigi Ballivian finished 10
th overall with a time of 2:00.46, and
Davis Dial finished 13
th overall with a time of 2:06.48.
The women's 400 free relay team of Ludeman, Katie Beebe,
Julia Beebe and Milly Byrne finished fourth overall with a time of 3:35.74. The men's 400 free relay team of Stockton, Merzthal, Milczynski, and Lilliey finished just four hundredths of a second behind first place with a time of 3:02.38.
