AUGUSTA, Ga. –  The Converse women's basketball team dropped their nonconference game to the Augusta University Jaguars by a final score of 91-69 Wednesday afternoon at the George A. Christenberry Fieldhouse on the campus of Augusta University.

With the loss, Converse falls to 1-12. Augusta improves to 7-4.

Senior Tatiana Brown led the Valkyries in scoring with 18 points.

How It Happened
Augusta took the opening possession for a basket, going up 2-0 early. The Valkyries scored the next four points, giving them their first lead of the contest. Converse grew their lead to five points, 11-6, just before the first-quarter media timeout. Augusta scored the next six points, taking a lead they did not relinquish. The Valkyries trailed 25-15 heading into the second quarter.

The Valkyries and Jaguars both scored 19 points in the second quarter. The Valkyries were led by Brown and senior Mazie Helpman who each tallied six points in the second quarter. Converse rallied to end the first half on a four-and-a-half-minute 13-6 run, heading into the locker room down 10 points, 44-34.

Augusta added nine points to their lead over the first four minutes of the third quarter with an 11-2 run. The Valkyries responded by outpacing the Jaguars 14-10 over the final seven minutes of the quarter, with Brown, freshman Madison Fileen and junior Rayanna Evans each adding four points. Converse trailed by 15 points, 65-50, heading into the game's final 10 minutes.

The Jaguars outpaced the Valkyries in the final quarter, getting the lead to as many as 25 points with six seconds remaining. Converse fell 91-69.

• Brown led Converse in scoring with 18 points. She shot 8-15, 53.3 percent, from the field and 2-3, 66.7 percent, from the charity stripe.
• Senior Emma Kanz and Fileen also scored double-digit points with 12 and 10 respectively.

• Converse turned 12 Augusta turnovers into 12 points.
