The Series:
This is the first ever meeting between Converse and Georgia Southwestern.
 
This will be the third all-time meeting between Converse and Coker with each team winning on their home court. This will be the first time the Valkyries face-off against former Converse head coach Nick Pasqua.
 
Converse Notes:

• Converse was picked to finish 10^th in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll, while head coach Kyle Perry enters his first season as the leader of the Valkyries program.
• Perry comes over to Converse after a successful stint at Limestone University. Over the past six season, Perry accumulated 52 total wins and 37 South Atlantic Conference wins for the Saints.
• Converse is coming off a 12-16 season where the Valkyries made it to the second round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament for just the second time in program history.
• Camden Edmonds is the lone holdover from last year's Valkyrie squad. Edmonds redshirted last season and will be looking to make a splash in his collegiate debut.
• Sirr Hughes transferred in from Limestone University where he appeared in 28 games last season with Saints. Hughes tallied 559 points, 72 rebounds and 63 assists.
• Jordyn Surratt returns to Spartanburg having played last season at Francis Marion. The former USC Upstate transfer appeared in 29 games for the Patriots, tallying 438 points, 209 rebounds 74 assists, 22 steals and 13 blocks for Francis Marion.
• In exhibition action against East Tennessee State earlier this month, Edmonds led the team with 12 points and four assists. Latavian Lawrence finished second on the team with eight points and Tre Locklear finished third on the team with seven points. Jonathan Pickering had a team best 12 rebounds against ETSU.   

 
Georgia Southwestern Notes:

• Georgia Southwestern was picked to finish eighth in the Peach Belt Conference this season. Finishing ahead of Georgia College, Clayton State and Middle Georgia.
• Kevin O'Connor takes over as the head coach for Georgia Southwestern after spending the previous three seasons at Cameron.
• The Hurricanes return three players who saw time on the floor last season, Gavin Guion, Abrahm Driver and Faustin Phanor.
• Last season Georgia Southwestern went 11-18 overall and 5-13 in Peach Belt Conference action.

 
Coker Notes:

• Coker was picked to finish 10^th in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll. The Cobras were predicted to finish just ahead of Emory & Henry and Mars Hill.
• Former Converse head coach Nick Pasqua is entering his first season as the head coach of the Cobras. Pasqua left Converse as the programs all-time wins leader and guiding Converse to three straight postseason berths.
• Isayah Owens was named to the SAC Players to Watch List. Owens, played at Limestone University last season. The Palmetto State native averaged 13.2 points per game, and 3.2 assists per game a season ago.
• Aaron Hall was the second Cobra named to the SAC Players to Watch List. Hall is a junior transfer from Wingate, where he averaged 9.3 points per game and shot 51 percent from the field.
• Last season, the Cobras went 19-10 overall and 15-9 in South Atlantic Conference play. Coker lost in the quarterfinals round of the SAC Tournament.
