Valkyries Secure Senior-Day Victory Over King

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – It was a day of celebration all the way around for the Converse University men's soccer team (7-6-3, 6-4-3 Conference Carolinas) as they honored 10 seniors prior to Saturday's 2-1 homecoming victory over the King Tornado (5-7-4, 4-6-3 Conference Carolinas).

Those seniors are: Harry O'Brien, Martin Burgos, Guilherme Fontes, Serge Nkoth, Nico Galanis, Hendrik Brauch, Jac Humphreys, Kaillou Touch, Luis Fortuce and Kyle Lewis.

Lewis, who has missed most of the 2025 season due to injury, was on the pitch to start the game for a ceremonial kickoff. Lewis and the Valkyries kicked the ball out of bounds, and so did King, giving the Valkyries a chance to sub in fellow senior Nkoth.

Freshman Jacob Bandel scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute, with Brauch picking up the assist. Eighteen minutes later, Fontes took a shot, got his own rebound, and put the ball in the back of the goal, putting Converse up 2-0.

Despite a second-half goal from King, Converse held on to win 2-1, sending the Valkyries seniors out victorious.
