ROCHESTER, N.Y.  – The Converse University Field Hockey team defeated Roberts Wesleyan 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Redhawks Field.

The Valkyries improved to 6-1 overall on the season with the victory, while Roberts Wesleyan falls to 0-7 on the year. Converse is off to their best start in two seasons, only the 2022 field hockey squad had a better record through the first seven games of the season.

Following a scoreless first quarter, senior Catalina Pistaccio scored the games first goal just five minutes into the quarter. Converse ended the period outshooting Roberts Wesleayn 5-0 and attempting a pair of corners in the frame.

Just two minutes into the second half, Samantha Daly found Amparo Figueroa for the second goal of the match. The Valkyries continued to put the pressure on the Red Hawks in the fourth quarter, when Figueroa found Pistaccio for her second goal of the afternoon. This is the third time this season the Valkyries have scored at least three goals in a match.

Converse finished the match outshooting the Red Hawks 20-3 overall and 13-3 in shots on goal. For the second straight game the Valkyries finished with multiple goal scorers and freshman goalie Tess Koppers recorded her first career win on Saturday.
