Men’s Tennis Picks Up Second Conference Victory By Downing King

BRISTOL, Tenn.  – For the second time in three matches, the Converse University men's tennis team (7-6, 2-2 Conference Carolinas) picked up a conference victory. Today's triumph came over the King Tornado (2-11, 0-4 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 5-2 in Bristol.

The Tornado, not having enough players to field a full doubles roster, forfeited No. 3 doubles automatically. Sophomore Stanley Waters and junior Cameron Davies then took a breadstick 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles to secure the point. Sophomore Marty Letessier and junior Leopold Morel rounded out the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory at the highest position.

With only five players, King also forfeited No. 6 singles, putting Converse up 2-0. Morel won at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-2 and freshman Manuel Roncero followed with a win at No. 5 singles by the same score, securing the win for Converse.

The Valkyries' final point of the match came from Letessier who won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
